Robots aren't so good at picking up debris like metal screws or pieces of pasta. However, they are amazing at brushing away pet hair, dust and dust. The best models have smart navigation technology and object avoidance features that allow them to maneuver around toys, cords and other obstacles in the household.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a fantastic robot vacuum that has several smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is one of the most useful features we've seen in a robot, and it works well with hard floors as well as carpets. The app will guide you through the entire process. It's also simple to use and set up. Another notable feature is the ability to return to the spot where it began in our tests. It did this for 77 mins on one cleaning, before running out of battery.
The i3+ EVO unlike the other robot vacuums we have tested, has a self emptying bin that automatically disposes of debris into an external dirt compartment located on the base of its charging once it's full. This reduces hands-on maintenance and helps keep the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it must be manually empty after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L that is enough to last through four to five cleaning sessions.
Like the i7model, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However the i3+ EVO only stores one map, whereas the i7 has the capacity to store multiple maps. The i7 can also make use of its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO cannot.
Although the i3+ EVO is better at picking up surface debris than some of the other robovacs we reviewed, it's not the best when it comes to cleaning corners and edges. It's also not as gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It pulled chairs away from walls, and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and got stuck on cords and toys during testing.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice for expanding your collection of robot vacuums or are just beginning to get started. It has a sleek design, powerful navigation, and effective automation at a reasonable cost. It's the most affordable pound-for-pound model available today and is even better than Roborock's higher-priced models in a variety of ways.
This robot does a fantastic job of cleaning floors with no dust and its avoidance technology helps it stay clear of furniture legs and other obstacles. It also excels on carpets, and earns a high score for our tests on navigation. The only drawback is that it's louder than other models and doesn't perform as well in our satisfaction of the owner and predicted reliability tests.
The Q5 Pro has a very large dust bin of 770ml which means you won't have to empty it as often as some other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute run time is also generous when in comparison to other 2-in-1 robots we have tested. If the battery is low, it returns automatically to its dock where it recharges and then resumes cleaning where it was when it stopped. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
This is the first robot we've seen that has 3D mapping. That, combined with some other innovations, makes it excel in our vacuuming and mopping tests. It allows you to schedule cleanings, set no-go zones and see the battery's status among other things. The app is easy to use, but it does not support Apple HomeKit. This feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. budget robot vacuum changed its footnote on its website in early November to reflect the fact that the feature was delayed until 2025. HomeKit is not compatible with other robots, but Siri Shortcuts are.

The model is equipped with an internal dToF LiDAR sensor to map out your home and design efficient cleaning routes. The iMop excelled in our assessment of the effectiveness of navigation and coverage and was also efficient in avoiding obstacles, including furniture. It also finds its way to the base station in case it is unable to recharge its batteries during an exercise of cleaning.
The spot cleaning mode lets you to clean a certain space on your floor. It can also be manually programmed to follow a particular path. This is great if you have narrow hallways or stairs. It was capable of cleaning carpets in our carpet cleaning evaluation however, it had trouble with higher pile carpets and rugs.
